Haiti Innovation Flickr Update (10/13/2008)
Matt recently uploaded a new set of photographs to the Haiti Innovation Flickr Account. These photos were taken during emergency operations where Haitian Red Cross volunteers and American Red Cross staff worked hand in hand throughout the country. Red Cross has considerably ramped up their programming over the past month. These photos give a sense of how profound the damage was in a way that may be impossible to convey through writing. Other non-profits may use photographs from this set provided that they credit Matthew Marek and Haiti Innovation.
Several of Matt's photos are also included in the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) photo-set on flickr. This collection contains an impressive collection of IFRC emergency operations around the world including Haiti, Ethiopia, China, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. The American Red Cross photo set has numerous photos of domestic hurricane response operations, and also some from Haiti.
Several other organizations and individuals have been posting photos of the damage caused by the hurricanes and recovery process. Radio Netherlands has posted a photo set as has the World Food Program (WFP). The DOD Southern Command has been involved in emergency response and they have posted photos here and here. Susan Walsh took some excellent photos in Gonaives. Tonycece took a number of good photos from Jeremie.
If you know of other photographers, either on Flickr or another site, that have been posting their photos of the recovery process, please post them in the comments section below. We will update the Haiti Innovation Flickr account periodically.
Thanks!
Bryan
